Blairgowrie has a population of about 8,000 and has an excellent range of amenities for its size.
Garfield House is within easy walking distance of the town centre - a 10-15 minute walk takes you past a variety of shops, supermarkets and restaurants. The view from the town bridge with the river Ericht, the weir and the riverside walk on one side and the church tower and wooded walk on the other. Upstream a few minutes walk is the picnic site and historic "Cargill`s Leap"
The River Ericht, famed for its salmon, has one of the nicest walks in the area. To the left of the Wellmeadow along Lower Mill Street you come to the riverside walk car park and picnic area.

Cateran Trail a 64 mile circular route through beautiful Perthshire and the Angus glens.
The trail can be walked in 4 or 5 days.
Blairgowrie has a range of specialist shops from it`s famous butchers and kilt makers to the well known Edinburgh Woollen Mill. The Wellmeadow has a pleasant garden in the middle of the town and a superb tourist office catering to your every need. The town library has its own Genealogy Centre and also offers free internet access. There are also regular public performances in the Wellmeadow at weekends during the summer. The Braemar Highland Gathering is held on the first Saturday in September, and Blairgowrie holds Braemar Night festivities and fireworks, which take place in the Wellmeadow.
The following day Blairgowrie's own Highland Games are held. In the autumn there is the week-long Blairgowrie Walking Festival. The town has a range of outdoor activities on offer - walking, cycling, fishing and, of course, golf - there is the championship Rosemount Course at the Blairgowrie Golf Course on the outskirts of the town and within an hour's drive of Blairgowrie there are more than 60 courses. At the Blairgowrie Recreation Centre there is a small swimming pool, games hall and fitness room.
